- The Gregor Mendel Institute (GMI) is an international research institute founded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences and dedicated to excellent curiosity-driven research in plant molecular biology. GMI is located at the Vienna BioCenter. The Vienna BioCenter is one of Europe's leading life sciences hubs, bringing together research institutes, universities and biotech companies in Vienna. GMI is seeking a Cloud & Identity Engineer (Azure / Entra ID / SSO) to take responsibility for Microsoft cloud identity and access across its environment. The role focuses on Entra ID, advanced identity features, enterprise application integrations, and single sign-on, ensuring that authentication, authorization, and application access are set up securely and reliably. This is a good fit if you enjoy working where cloud services, identity, and security meet.
- Administer and further develop Entra ID services and identity integrations.
- Manage SSO and federation across internal and external applications.
- Onboard enterprise applications and manage their lifecycle in the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Implement and troubleshoot SAML, OIDC, OAuth, and related authentication and authorization.
- Support advanced Entra features and identity-related security controls.
- Work on access models, identity governance, and integration standards.
- Support Azure topics in the context of identity and access management.
- Work with infrastructure and application teams on secure, maintainable integration patterns.

Qualifikationen
- Solid understanding of SAML, OIDC, OAuth, and related protocols.
- Good grasp of identity security concepts and access governance.
- Structured, analytical, service-oriented way of working.
- Good communication skills, able to coordinate with technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Familiarity with hybrid identity environments.
Erfahrung
- Strong experience with Entra ID / Azure AD administration.
- Experience with SSO and enterprise application integration.
- Experience troubleshooting authentication and federation issues.
- Experience with Conditional Access and advanced Entra features.
- Experience with Azure services beyond identity.
- Experience working closely with security and compliance requirements.
