- Excellent research needs state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and innovative digital services.
- With a team of about 50 experts, we will redesign the Institute's digital landscape over the next few years and implement an ambitious digital transformation programme to facilitate the rapid growth of the Institute.
- Our focus is on building secure, scalable, and highly available IT services that enable world-class research.
- As part of our IT Support team, you will be responsible for designing, operating, and improving the Institute's IT infrastructure and digital services.
- You will ensure high availability, security, and performance of critical systems in a complex research environment.
- Analyse system and business requirements and translate them into technical infrastructure designs.
- Install, configure, maintain, and support IT infrastructure components and digital services across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Monitor system performance and availability, proactively identify issues, and troubleshoot incidents and problems to ensure service stability.
- Implement and maintain security measures including system hardening, access control, patching, backup, and recovery strategies.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure changes with minimal downtime and operational risk.
- Drive automation of operational tasks (deployment, configuration, monitoring, provisioning) to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams, researchers, and external vendors to deliver and support complex IT infrastructure solutions.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies to improve scalability, resilience, security, and cost efficiency.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for infrastructure-related incidents and outages.
- Follow ITIL-based service management processes.
Unsere Erwartungen an dich
Ausbildung
- Higher technical education (university degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience).
Qualifikationen
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and/or Windows Server environments.
- Solid understanding of networking (IP, switching, routing, firewalls).
- Familiarity with cloud-based MDM platforms such as Microsoft Intune or similar device management tools.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g. Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Good understanding of IT security principles and operational best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex technical environments.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.
Erfahrung
- Several years of experience as a System Engineer or in a similar infrastructure-focused role.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Experience with VoIP systems, print server administration, and endpoint management solutions.
- Experience with ITSM tools and ITIL-based operational processes.
Unser Angebot
- Full Time (40 h/w).

- € 53,000 gross/year.
- This position comes with possible overpayment depending on education, qualification and work experience.
