Deine Rolle im Team
- Take ownership of sophisticated Embedded Linux platforms that power our integrated displays (operator panels) and computing solutions.
- In this senior engineering role, you will work across the full Linux stack, from hardware bring-up and BSP development through system integration and performance optimization to production-ready solutions.
- A key part of your work will be building robust and scalable Yocto-based Linux platforms for ARM-based systems.
- As part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team, you will help shape the next generation of smart machine technologies and drive innovation in graphics, visualization, and high-performance embedded computing.
- Design, develop, and maintain Embedded Linux distributions for ARM-based platforms, covering the full software stack from hardware bring-up to system-level integration.
- Own and continuously improve core platform components, including bootloaders, the Linux kernel, device drivers, middleware, system libraries, and utilities.
- Define, customize, and maintain Yocto-based build systems and Board Support Packages (BSPs) for embedded platforms.
- Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, and commissioning, working closely with electronics and hardware engineering teams.
- Analyse and optimize system performance, including boot time, CPU utilization, memory footprint, graphics performance, and overall responsiveness.
- Develop and optimize display, graphics, and visualization solutions, leveraging embedded GPUs and technologies such as Wayland, DRM/KMS, OpenGL ES, Vulkan, and Qt.
- Contribute to computer vision and image-processing solutions for embedded systems using OpenCV, OpenCL, or comparable technologies.
- Drive platform quality, reliability, and knowledge sharing through CI/CD, automated testing, system hardening, structured development practices, technical guidance, and mentoring.

Ausbildung
- Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or a related technical field (TU/FH or equivalent).
Qualifikationen
- Strong programming skills in C; C++ is highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of Embedded Linux, including Linux Kernel, U-Boot, Device Tree, Yocto, and Git.
- Knowledge of image processing/computer vision (OpenCV/OpenCL), embedded cybersecurity, and modern AI-assisted development tools is advantageous.
- Very good command of English; German is a plus.
Erfahrung
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on Embedded Linux development experience on ARM-based platforms.
- Proven experience designing, customizing, and maintaining Yocto-based Linux platforms and BSPs, including debugging and performance optimization.
- Experience with embedded graphics and display technologies, such as DRM/KMS, Wayland/Weston, OpenGL ES, Vulkan, Qt Graphics Stack, and GPU/3D acceleration, is a strong plus.
- Experience in Automotive, Off-Highway, Industrial Automation, or similar embedded domains, combined with strong collaboration skills, curiosity, and a continuous learning mindset.

- This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for Employees in the Metal Trade ("Kollektivvertrag für Angestellte Metallgewerbe") and we offer a minimum salary of € 65,000 gross per year.
- Actual compensation can be well above this standard.
