    Deine Rolle im Team

    • We are seeking a motivated and hands-on MAIT Engineer to support the development, integration, and verification of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) payload systems for space applications.
    • The successful candidate will contribute to all phases of Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Test (MAIT) activities, ensuring compliance with technical, functional, and environmental requirements in accordance with applicable space industry standards.
    • This role combines practical laboratory and integration work with meticulous engineering documentation and verification activities.
    • Prepare and conduct MAIT activities for spaceborne QKD payload systems and subsystems including optical, electronic, and optomechanical components in accordance with ECSS standards and product-related requirements.
    • Develop and maintain MAIT documentation including plans, procedures, reports, and other verification records.
    • Prepare and conduct verification and validation testing against system and subsystem requirements.
    • Operate and maintain laboratory and test equipment used for optical, electronic, thermal, and functional testing.
    • Support and facilitate environmental test campaigns including, e.g., vibration, thermal vacuum, EMC, and functional testing.
    • Ensure traceability between requirements, verification activities, and test evidence.
    • Participate in reviews and contribute to anomaly investigations and root-cause analyses.
    • Work closely with systems, optical, electronics, and software engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of MAIT processes, documentation practices, and laboratory procedures.

    Unsere Erwartungen an dich

    Ausbildung

    • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.

    Qualifikationen

    • Familiarity with ECSS standards and engineering processes used in space projects including configuration control and documentation needs.
    • Knowledge of optical systems, photonics, lasers, or quantum technologies is a plus.
    • Basic scripting or automation skills (e.g., Python, LabVIEW) for test support activities is a plus.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary SME environment.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills in English; German is a plus.

    Erfahrung

    • Experience in MAIT, AIT, systems integration, or verification/testing activities in the space, aerospace, photonics, or high-tech sector.
    • Hands-on laboratory experience with precision instrumentation and test equipment.
    • Experience preparing and executing structured test procedures and verification activities.
    • Experience with environmental testing for space hardware is a plus.

    • The minimum gross salary for this position is €3.284, 86 per month (based on full-time employment) in accordance with the collective agreement.
    • However, there is a willingness to offer a higher salary depending on experience and qualifications.
