- Google isn't just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology.
- As an Operations Technician, you'll install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster).
- You'll also take on the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols.
- You'll participate in or lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.
- A typical day involves manual movement and installation of racks, and while it can sometimes be physically demanding, you are excited to work with infrastructure that is at the cutting-edge of computer technology.
- As a Technician on our team, your job is to keep the hardware and networks physically connected and running smoothly in our data centers.
- You will install, configure, and troubleshoot physical servers, network switches, and cabling.
- You will be the one diagnosing the hardware issue and making the repair, and help lead projects during major facility upgrades and new equipment rollouts.
- In this role, a normal day involves using tools, manually moving server racks, and navigating an industrial environment.
- The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in the world.
- We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.
- Contribute to projects for the deployment, maintenance, and support of current and new data center servers and network infrastructure.
- Diagnose and repair broken equipment, including servers, networking, and storage devices.
- Install and maintain switches, routers, and other networking gear.
- Participate in primary or secondary on-call shifts.
- Commit to working weekend shift schemes and 24/7 shifts when needed.

Qualifikationen
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.
- Ability to communicate in German fluently to engage in day-to-date operations, and with colleagues.
Erfahrung
- Experience with performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting one of the following: operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
- 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting one of the following: operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols.
- Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment.
