Team

We do not seperate in Teams and everybody is an experienced Developer. Every developer is responsible for building different Microservices end-to-end from understanding requirements to releasing in production. As these Services are very small in size there is no need to have a Team working on it. Discussions and Information sharing (eg Architecture Concepts, Code Reviews etc) is going on all the time but ultimately the services are built and owned by just one developer.

Our development process is closest to Kanban. If we have a bigger project to deliver the team breaks it down into smaller services which are then independently developed. Releasing is done by the developer himself when and as often he likes.

Most of the team were my old colleagues so the adaptation to a new environment was effortless. The flexibility of the company was also an important aspect for the father of a small child. And finally, the quality-first mindset, automate everything developer-driven approach to provide an environment for developers to focus on what we do best - develop software.

I can always count on the help of my colleagues when needed, but I can also do everything on my own without being blocked by dependencies. I also get to try out different techniques and frameworks in order to find the most fitting toolchain for the given problem.

We have a flat organization structure. We want to keep that as long as possible. We want to avoid Managers, Scrum Master, Tech-Leads or however it is called. Everybody is responsible for his part and manages his delivery by himself which enables independent deliveries and a lot of flexibility.
