Deine Rolle im Team
- Excellent research needs state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and innovative digital services.
- With a team of about 50 experts, we will redesign the institute's digital landscape over the next few years and implement an ambitious digital transformation programme to facilitate the Institute's rapid growth.
- As part of our strategy, we are planning to upgrade our network to a fully redundant 100G connectivity and to redesign security measures such as NG firewalls, VPN, micro-segmentation, and ZTNA.
- Moreover, we are planning to raise the capacities and standards of the data centres on our campus.
- As part of our core IT infrastructure team, you will have a leading role in designing, implementing, and operating our campus network and data centres.
- Design, deployment, maintenance and upgrade of the Institute's network infrastructure (switches, wireless access points, fibre optic and copper connections).
- Configure, test and deploy new network security equipment including micro-segmentation, network authentication, next-generation firewalls, and VPN.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd-level network support to identify, troubleshoot and solve network outages.
- General knowledge of state-of-the-art data centre design and operating models.
- Implement and optimise automated network management.
- Documentation of network and data centre architecture as well as system configurations.
Unsere Erwartungen an dich
Ausbildung
- Ideally university-level IT education with a focus on networking or equivalent work experience.
Qualifikationen
- Strong knowledge in the fields of network security, firewalls, and VPN.
- Very good understanding of IP routing protocols, including BGP, IS-IS, OSPF.
- Eager to learn new technologies and the flexibility to develop in a changing environment.
- Proactive, forward-looking, and independent working style is a must.
- Reliable team-player with good communication skills.
- Working language is English, good working knowledge in German is an advantage.
Erfahrung
- Several years of experience with Cisco networking equipment (switches, routers).
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, terraform, puppet) and scripting (e.g., shell, Perl, Python).
- Experience with container technologies and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Experience with ITIL-based service management processes is a plus.
